Earthquake this weekend! It was no 1989, but you wouldn’t know it from the state of these mountain roads.

This weekend we backpacked to Triund! Once the rain stopped we sunbathed in the good company of goats, dogs, horses, and monks.

Favorite spot for reading and eating. Doesn’t get better than Amberjade’s bean burgers!

Gorgeous hike to Daramkot waterfall yesterday! We baptized ourselves in the freezing water (only the girls were brave enough) and got caught in the rain and dark on our way home. Even with Lindsey’s near death experience sliding off the edge of a slippery cliff, it was a great trip.

A photo of our swimming hole a month ago, it looks completely different now that it’s spring  - the water is much faster now that the snow is melting.

Look who else made it all the way to India! My mom and Nancy made the trip here over my spring break, and couldn’t have been better travel buddies. Despite broken down cars and crazy itineraries, we had an awesome time together.

Here were are with Buddha in Bodh Gaya, meeting an elephant in Jaipur, and riding through the streets of Varanassi on the way to the Ganges. Even with our fancy travel arrangements, my mom and Nancy were not immune to Delhi belly. If they can do it at 60, then I have nothing to complain about!

Now that I’m back in Mcleod, getting sick has become a pretty normal part of life. Every meal feels a little bit like a game of Russian roulette. On the other hand, the city is experiencing a beautiful freak occurrence this season - an invasion of white butterflies! For several afternoons now after the midday storm clears up, there has been a swirling of white wings against the backdrop of the Himalayas.

I’ve now started my Independent Research period, so I am free to spend the days waking up late, running around to catch interviews, attempting to download articles on Indian speed internet connections, and sneaking chapters of Midnight’s Children in between. So far I’m enjoying it.
